Whareunga Bay

The bays between Patten passage and Whareunga Bay all have attractive beaches and are completely exposed to NW to NE winds. They should only be used as an anchorage in calm weather or in winds from the S sector semi-circle.

Holding is good at Kilmarnoch at the head of Whareunga.

There are rocks out from all the points along the coast and particular care should be taken to avoid the ones off the peninsula between Whareunga and Burney’s Beach.
